Welcome to our classroom homepage! I strongly believe in communication and feel this website is a great way to keep in touch. Here you will find weekly newsletter updates, volunteer information, a look inside our classroom, and more!
This year will be a very special year for your child. In first grade, we will be focusing on literacy development including reading, writing, speaking and listening; as well as math, science, and social studies. Religion is also a large part of the curriculum at Guardian Angels. We will have a daily prayer in our classroom and also attend mass once a week.
I strongly believe in a classroom community and allowing the students to feel safe and comfortable to share their thoughts and ideas as well as working together appropriately. As part of this, we will begin each day with a Morning Meeting. During this meeting the activities of the day will be discussed with the students. We will then go over calendar, place value, weather, and time. The students will also have the opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas with the class, based on a selected topic.
Finally, communication between parent and teacher is vital to a successful school year. If you have any questions or concern, please do not hesitate to email me at [email protected]. I check my email before and after school, and I will respond as soon as possible. As stated above, you may also send a note with you child in his or her Take Home Folder.
